The Truth of the Stone

Larimar exists in exactly one place on this earth: the Bahoruco mountains of the Dominican Republic. Every piece in this collection begins there.

We did not build the Larimar Children's Compass Initiative without asking harder questions about the stone itself.

Between 2008 and 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor documented children mining Larimar in the Dominican Republic, small enough to reach tunnel spaces adults could not. This is part of the stone's history. We will not soften it.

In 2025, the primary Larimar mine implemented reforms: banning child labor outright, adding security checkpoints, medical units, and reinforced tunnels. A Larimar workshop school, training local artisans in cutting and polishing above ground, has operated since 2014.

Our Larimar is sourced through a wholesale supplier who draws from multiple stone companies across the region, standard practice in the gemstone trade. We cannot verify every hand the stone passes through before it reaches ours. What we can commit to is continuing to ask, disclosing what we learn, and directing 30% (thirty percent) of every sale toward Freedom Insight's work protecting children, so the stone's full journey serves the mission we've built it for.

We chose Larimar because it demanded honesty from us before we ever asked it to represent protection for others. A stone with a difficult past can still be tasked, deliberately, with a better future.
